Which parasites does advantix protect against?

advantix protects dogs against four haematophagous parasites which are vectors of diseases.

  • TICKS - advantix has a repellent and acaricidal effect on four

species of tick: Ixodes ricinus (wood tick), Ripicephalus sanguineus

(dog tick), Dermacentor variabilis and americanum.

insecticidal effect against these haematophagous diptera before they

    can bite.

less than five minutes. Within 12 hours it kills between 98% and 100%

of fleas, while re-infesting fleas are killed within two hours. The

product also kills the larvae in the environment surrounding the dog.

How rapid is the effect of advantix on ticks, fleas, sand flies and mosquitoes?

advantix rapidly exerts its effects on all four parasites. Research has shown that up to 98.5% of ticks are repelled within two hours.
advantix also kills up to 98.5% of mosquitoes and reduces their consumption of feeds of blood by up to 95.2% within one hour. advantix also halts the haematophagous activity of fleas in less than five minutes and starts to kill them within one hour.

Can advantix help to reduce transmission of diseases?

Ticks that bite transmit diseases while they are taking their feed of blood on the dog. The longer the tick feeds for, the greater the possibility of transmission of pathogenic organisms to the host. advantix has a repellent and killing action on ticks before they can attack. Repelling and killing the ticks before they attack can significantly reduce the risk of transmission of diseases. Recent information indicates that the virus of West Nile fever may be pathogenic and even fatal in dogs. advantix has a repellent and killing action on mosquitoes, before these can bite.
