Veterinary and medical importance of ticks is mainly determined by their capability of disease transmission.
The following diseases have been reported to be transmitted by ticks:

  • Lyme-Borreliosis, Borrelia burgdorferi
  • Canine Babesiosis, Babesia canis
  • Ehrlichiosis, Ehrlichia spp.
  • Anaplasmosis, Anaplasma spp.
  • Hepatozoonosis, Hepatozoon canis
